MPV's - Multi-Purpose Vehicles

Minibus Permits
Vehicles that carry paying passengers are called Public Service Vehicles (PSVs). Ordinarily, any organisation that accepts any sort of payment for providing transport to passengers must obtain a PSV Operator's Licence from the relevant Traffic Commissioner. In most cases, drivers of such vehicles will also require a Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) entitlement on their driving licence. |

What minibus insurance will you need?
Like all motor vehicles used on the road, a vehicle operated under a permit must be covered by an insurance policy, which insures against liabilities to third parties (which includes the passengers being carried in the vehicle).
Your insurer will need to know that you will be receiving payment from passengers - in other words, operating for 'hire or reward' - but that you are exempted from the requirement for PSV operator licensing through the permit system.
